SOUTH MOLTON beat Bideford 342-326 in their Inter-League match at the New Inn. Flowers Floppers' Alec Facey skittled 60, the highest score.
The star performance in the Individuals competition was by Gin Trap's Toby Lochead who belied his youth to register 83 against Colts' B Ridd, who scored 50.
Holders Brian and Steve Marshall (Knowstoneians) were knocked out of the Pairs by the mother and daughter Bains pairing from Miners Arms. Gin Traps pair Richard Jennings and A Marshall caused an upset by beating Division One Burrington's A Cole and Ken Elworthy.
Lochead was in form in the Juniors competition too, hitting 61 against Town Arms Terrors' K Seviour to reach round two. Former winner James Tapp (Heasley Mill B) is the only Division One survivor.
The Seniors produced the closest game of the night, a 54-54 draw between Ken Elworthy (Burrington) and F Crowley (Gin Trap). Elworthy won 58-50 in a rematch. Last season's runner-up J White (Twitchen) lost 73-72 to Burrington captain Graham Parker in the round's highest-scoring encounter.
The quarter-final draws will be made during the committee meeting at the Town Arms tonight, starting 8.30pm.
The County Singles qualification competition, postponed in January, will be played on Wednesday.

Another notable score came from D Baddick, who had an impressive 82 at the Windsor to keep alive Goodly Knights' hopes of finishing second in Division One. Lee Cole also had 82 for champions Exeter Bibbers.
No Beer Just Coke won the battle of the top two in Division Six against Wing and a Prayer.
