IT'S not the X Factor, but three months of talent auditions will begin in Bideford tomorrow.

The Search For A Star event will run for 14 weeks and culminate in a grand final on December 10.

The contest has been organised by Paul and Debbie Bevan of Elite entertainment and will raise money for Children's Hospice South West.

Anyone aged 18 or above is welcome to show up on the night and pay £1 to audition for a panel of judges including Paul Bevan and the entertainment team from Braddick's holiday park.

The best one or two singers will be selected from each week's audition and will perform again at the grand final.

Auditions will be held from 8.30pm at the Swan Inn, Torrington Street, Bideford, every Friday.

The final on December 10 will be judged by Hopps and Chapple, Braddicks entertainment staff and a Children's Hospice South West representative.

The winner of the final will receive £200 and the opportunity to perform at Braddicks holiday park next season.

Emma Perry, community fundraiser for Little Bridge House, said: "This event is a great idea especially with the official X Factor just kicking off on the TV.

"This is a way for local aspiring singers to get involved in the audition-style event while raising money to support life-limited children and their families."
