Statistics can be deceptive
THERE was widespread concern that cutting police numbers might prejudice public safety, but the latest figures appear to show those fears are without foundation as crime numbers are, yet again, down.
Does this mean that if we continue to cut back on policing the country will be safer? And, taken to the logical extreme, would doing away entirely with a police force mean the end of all crime?
Aren't statistics wonderful?
