Stopping off for a sweet sensation
I REGULARLY pass Woodford Bridge Country Club on my way to and from work so when I heard there was a restaurant there, I decided to give it a go.
The Coach House Restaurant and Bar looks impressive from the outside, as indeed does the rest of the country club complex. The lights on a cold and snowy winter's evening made it very inviting.
Groups of various sizes were already eating when we arrived, spread across the seemingly endless dining area.
We were shown to our seats and a little while later had our drink orders taken as we browsed the menu.

For starters we had tomato, and red onion bruschetta and parma ham and mozarella salad.
My dish was a treat, the tomato and onion blending perfectly with the pesto-infused bread. The salad caught my fellow diner's eye as he is a fan of parma ham. He was impressed by the way the ham spiced up the cheese.
My main course of salmon en croute with a hollandaise sauce, leeks, carrots and red cabbage was a generous portion but the pastry casing was a little overdone and the sauce seemed to drown out some of the other flavours.
My fellow foodie had chicken and mushroom pie with chips. He liked the pie but was a bit disappointed by the chips, which he said looked and tasted like takeaway fries.
I had chocolate brownie and ice cream for dessert, which swept my palate clean of salmon in one sweet sensation.
My fellow diner had Belgian waffles with ice cream; a prettily presented dish that went down well.
