Strong winds too much for flagpole on Ilfracombe's Lantern Hill
This photo shows the bizarre moment when a flagpole in Ilfracombe was blown over in high winds.
The pole on Lantern Hill, which is owned by North Devon Council, was leaning over at an angle around 9.30am this morning when resident Charmain Lovett took this photo.

North Devon Council said high winds had managed to shear one of the fixing bolts at the base of the flagpole.
The council has now taken the pole down to be repaired.

“Isnt this the same flagpole that was upsetting some of the local residents with its flapping noises a while back ??”
