Students debate draft local plan
STUDENTS at various schools across North Devon and Torridge are being asked what they think of a draft local plan for the area.
Council members are visiting schools and colleges giving students the chance to design their own town.
This is then compared with the draft plan proposed by the council, which details development plans for the area between now and 2031.
Executive member for strategic planning at North Devon Council, Councillor Mike Edmunds, said it is important to find out the opinions of young people as they will be most affected by the plans.

He added: "We also want to make the area attractive for them in terms of employment opportunities so that we don't lose them to other areas."
Alice Nicholson, a Year 8 pupil from South Molton Community College, said: "I enjoyed the tasks that we were given to plan the future of South Molton. It was good to find out what could happen and how we can have our say about the plans."
The public consultation over the plan runs until Friday, March 15.
