TWO surfers were taken to hospital after being hit on the head by their boards.

A 22-year-old from Barnstaple was hit as she surfed at Putsborough beach, just after 6pm on Saturday.

She was treated by Mortehoe coastguard and taken to North Devon District Hospital by her boyfriend.

Another surfer was helped by Croyde RNLI lifeguards after she sustained an injury to her head when she was hit by her board.

The woman, 28, was taken to North Devon District Hospital by ambulance. The incident happened just before 2.30pm on Saturday.
