TAW VALLEY warmed up for the resumption of the West Clubs Women's League season with a 4-2 friendly win over Okehampton.

Fielding a strong team, Taw, of the Sedgemoor first division, were soon in control against a side from the south division, one tier above.

But it was Okehampton who took the lead, breaking from the back to win a penalty corner, from which they scored via a deflection.

Rhona Screech equalised with a clean strike from the top of the D and that was followed shortly by a goal from Charlotte Beauchamp, making it 2-1 to Taw.

As Okehampton tired in the second half, Taw knocked in another two goals.

At a penalty corner, Beauchamp got a deflection on Jo Yeaxley-Batch's strike.

Then Kate Openshaw deflected the ball in after a shot from Beauchamp hit the post.

Okehampton made a few breaks in the closing stages and managed to pull a goal back.

Taw Valley II were in league action, beating Weston-super-Mare 7-5 in the Sedgemoor second division.
