Teenager treated for burns after a caravan fire in Milton Damerel

A TEENAGER was treated for burns after the caravan he was living in caught on fire in Milton Damerel late last night.

The 17-year-old was treated by an ambulance crew for injuries to his hands and feet at Crossways near Holsworthy. The man was taken to North Devon District Hospital.

A woman was also treated for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters from Holsworthy, Torrington and Hatherleigh arrived at 11.50pm to find the caravan well alight.

Torrington crew manager Daryl Anderson said: "The fire was almost out when got there. The caravan had pretty much fully burnt out. The lad had been living in it, he was taken away by ambulance."

The blaze was extinguished with a hose jet.

Fire investigations team are yet to establish the cause of the blaze.
