SCRUMPTIOUS sizzling sausages, creamy soothing porridge or freshly baked croissants — whatever your morning meal of the moment, it could taste even better this weekend.

Drop into one of the Big Breakfast events listed below and while munching on muesli, tucking into a mouthful of toast or feasting on a full English, you'll be raising money for North Devon Hospice

All across the region, keen breakfasters will prepare tight skinned juicy sausages, golden yolked eggs and ripe tomatoes, to feed folk in their communities. For those who prefer a lighter start to the day there will be offerings of oat cuisine (that's posh for porridge), continental croissants and refreshing fruit smoothies.

Rebecca Worth, from North Devon Hospice's fundraising team, hopes to sample as many of these morning banquets as she can: "I'm looking forward to visiting as many Big Breakfasts as I can because the food on offer is always delicious.

"I don't think I'll quite make all 23, but it's worth a go! This is such a great way to raise funds because everyone loves a good hearty breakfast, whether it's cereal or a full English. By attending one of our Big Breakfast events you will get a cracking meal and know that you're helping a worthwhile cause."

People in North Devon appear to have big appetites when it comes to the first meal of the day and raising money for the hospice. The response to this year's event has been overwhelming.

"From pubs to golf clubs and from cafés to WIs, everyone has been so willing to get on board," said Rebecca. "No matter where in North Devon you live, there is bound to be a Big Breakfast nearby that you can go along to and that hopefully means plenty of funds will be raised for North Devon Hospice."

Whether it's fresh fruit or a fry-up, your breakfast could be even more tasty in the knowledge that any donation you pay for it will make a difference to the lives of local people.

"North Devon Hospice cares for patients and families who are suffering from the impact of a life-threatening illness," added Rebecca.

"This care takes place in people's own homes as well as at the hospice in Newport, Barnstaple. There could be no better way to support the work we do than to go along to your local Big Breakfast. What a great way to enjoy some great grub and help families in your own community."
