The teams started with equal possession but neither could create a clear chance.
Bideford's Kirsty Talbot spilling a shot was the highlight for Ilfracombe but the keeper recovered well.
Bideford's quick-footed forward Caroline Parsons then dragged her shot wide after a well-timed run found her space on the edge of the area.
Ilfracombe went close to opening the scoring in the 22nd minute when Talbot parried a shot back into the danger zone instead of to safety and striker Kirsty Quartly's shot deflected off the bar.
Ilfracombe hit the woodwork again in the 43rd minute. A shot from the edge of the area deflected viciously, leaving the post to save Bideford.
The visitors had good spells of possession but failed to penetrate Ilfracombe's defence. Chelsea Crawshaw looked the liveliest, finding space and picking out a pass on more than one occasion.
Talbot was again called into action after three defenders failed to prevent the persistent Donna Adams firing a shot goalbound.
After half time it was Ilfracombe who again looked most likely to score.
A long through-ball was not dealt with by Bideford, leaving space for two attempts at goal. Both were saved but the Bideford manager, Mark Lewis, was unimpressed.
Crawshaw was making well-timed runs on the right flank but Bideford could not find a way of getting the ball to the winger.
The goal finally came just after the hour when the Dibble twins created a fluid passing movement and Marie slotted the ball into the bottom left corner.
Ilfracombe held on to their lead for a fourth win of the season that saw them move away from the bottom of the first division table and overtake Bideford.
