UPDATE: Family pay tribute to Copplestone pensioner who died following A377 crash
The family of a 78-year-old woman who died in hospital following a two-vehicle crash on the A377 last November have paid tribute to her.
Patricia Anne Daniels, of Copplestone, was driving a red Nissan Almera when it was in collision with a silver Volvo C70 on the A377 at Barnstaple Cross on November 27.

She suffered serious internal injuries and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, where she remained until she died on Monday.
The female driver of the Volvo, who is from the Crediton area, was also injured in the crash but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The family of Mrs Daniels today paid tribute to her, describing her as a “strong and independent woman”.
A statement issued by her family said: “She was an active member of the Copplestone community and a member of the local Women’s Institute and contributed to the 2012 drive to secure £50,000 National Lottery funding for the creation of the Copplestone Recreation Field.
“Mrs Daniels was a London bus conductor for 30 years who witnessed and survived the London Poll-tax riots as part of her distinguished service.
“She then went on to fulfill her retirement wish of moving to the country with her animals.
“She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will remember Pat as a strong, independent woman who was known for her love of soap operas and animals.
“Pat was the owner of three cats and two Border Collies who she enjoyed taking for their daily walk in Shobrooke Park.”
The cause of the collision, which occurred at around 5pm, is still being investigated.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Officers are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a Peugeot 306 which was being driven towards Barnstaple and may have witnessed what happened.
“Drivers who were travelling in the opposite direction may also have valuable information.”
