VIDEO: Barnstaple advert which cost nearly £10,000 airs on ITV
CENTRAL Cinema in Barnstaple hosted the silver screen unveiling of a TV advert for the town on Monday.
The ad which cost nearly £10,000, was paid for by BIDBarnstaple, and will be screened on ITV every day from now until April 22, and should record up to 800,000 views, according to figures from the broadcaster.
BID Barnstaple chairman Dane Stanley said: “There’s no way any one business, or even a group of businesses, could stretch to this budget. This is what BID can do for Barnstaple.”
Aimed at attracting people to Barnstaple from throughout the south west, the advert showcases the idea of a ‘day in Barnstaple,’ according to Artavia Advertising, who produced it.

It starts with a series of photos showing people out and about in the town during the day before showing similar images taken in the evening and at night.
The soundtrack to the ad is provided by Barnstaple based band Severe Zero. Front man Luke Bond, who helped with edit the soundtrack, said: “It’s nice to be involved with something like this and we’re pretty pleased with the final product.”
Artavia’s account manager for BID, Emma Scott-Goldstone, said the ad was based on a similar campaign budget airline Easyjet had run. She said that by using still images the ad could be easily and inexpensively altered to be re-run in the middle of summer and at Christmas.
