VIDEO: Boy rescued from rip current in Croyde
A boy had to be rescued from a dangerous rip current in Croyde on Wednesday afternoon.
The youngster had been surfing at the North Devon beach when he got into difficulty at around 1.30pm.

He was seen drifting into a rip current and wasn't able to make headway back towards the beach.
RNLI lifeguard James Vallance paddled out to the youngster and managed to get him onto a rescue board before helping him back to shore safely.

Phil Hill, RNLI Divisional Lifeguard Manager, said: 'The young lad was very grateful to be dropped back on the beach - and his dad was very pleased to see him.
'We would say to people who do find themselves caught in rip currents while surfing to stay calm, stay on your board and raise your arm to indicate to the lifeguards that you need assistance.'
