The Totnes-raised singer-songwriter, who headlined last year’s Goldcoast Oceanfest at Croyde, earned the second accolade for his debut album, Every Kingdom.

Hirst and Howard weren’t the only links the Westcountry had to the BRIT Awards last night – Devon rockers Muse, who are from Teignmouth, were backed by a 60-piece string section as they opened the show with Supremacy.
