Van driver gets two-year ban
A MAN has been banned from driving for two years after crashing his van in Combe Martin.
David Wells, 34, of Ash Park, Parracombe, was three times over the limit when he drove his white Nissan van into a garden wall on February 17.
The landscape gardener was banned from driving for 24 months at North Devon Magistrates' Court and ordered to complete a drink driving rehabilitation course, which could reduce the period of his ban by 24 weeks.
The court heard that on the night of the incident Wells, who has no previous convictions, had been drinking heavily in a Combe Martin pub after arguing with his partner.
The couple, who moved to the area from London, are carers for their three daughters who have long-term illnesses, the court heard.
