BARNSTAPLE'S National Three south west rugby match against Chippenham was called off at short notice this afternoon.

Inspections at lunchtime on Friday and this morning passing the Pottington Road pitch fit for play.

But with some uneven patches still frozen less than an hour before kick-off, a number of players felt it would be dangerous for the game to go ahead.

The outcome meant all seven matches in the division were postponed today.

Home matches for Bideford, Torrington, South Molton and Ilfracombe were also called off.

Football matches for Bideford, Ilfracombe Town, Witheridge and Appledore were postponed, while Barnstaple Town are due to play at Bristol Manor Farm tomorrow.

All small number of matches in the North Devon League have survived.
