When work does start it is expected to be completed within three months although it may take longer with other Wetherspoon sites being worked on across the country. The new Wetherspoons will cost £1 million and is expected to employ 40-45 people.

Bideford Carpet and Furnishing Centre has now relocated and opened their new premises in Hows Yard in Bideford. Peter May, from the centre, said:

"We first opened on Monday after spending most of January moving from the old site.

"We have a much bigger range of stock here and on site parking which we have never had before."

The company's new address is Hows Yard, New Road, Bideford, EX39 2AQ.

“Well, I hope for the people of Bideford that they get on with the building and not just leave a hole in the land as they have at Ilfracombe.”
