Wheels event is ready to roll back the years
THE wheels have been set in motion for a hugely popular classic motor vehicle event which is returning soon to Braunton after a five-year absence.
Braunton Wheels Event returns on Sunday, July 25, at the Recreation Ground for the first time since 2005.
The organisers, Calvert Trust Exmoor, are reviving the display of vintage tractors, cars and steam engines.
The Trust, which offers outdoor challenges for disabled children from a huge site on Exmoor, is also making the day free to the public.

Rachel Shortridge, fundraising assistant for Calvert Trust, said: "This will be a great occasion with something for all the family.
"A wide range of wheeled exhibits old and new have signed up to display.
"The motorbike section includes a rare hand built Egli-Vincent and bikes from the 1940s.
"The oldest car is a 1934 Morris which has been converted to a Hot Rod.
"Ages and styles are varied and a Ford Lincoln Continental will vie for attention alongside the likes of an Alfa Romeo Spider, an AC Cobra, a 1955 Jaguar, a 1965 Austin Healey and many more.
"Larger vehicles are also on display and there'll be entries from vintage tractor owners.
"There will also be the chance to see a Jackal patrol vehicle up close, which is currently used in Afghanistan, alongside a BV tracked over snow vehicle. Both are from RMB Chivenor."
Police and fire officers will be attending and a road safety team will be sending their Volkswagen T5 Transporter which has been customised and includes an impressive 42in plasma TV which shows safety films.
The event is also to feature a collection of old bicycles and tricycles.
And the Vintage Mobile Cinema plans to show historic footage of Braunton.
Various fun activities for children are part of the programme.
Captain Coconut will be present with his bubble shows along with circus workshops, the "Really Wild Show," a face painter and caricaturist.
Music will be supplied by a local samba band and the arena will have bouncy castles, vintage fair rides, refreshments and stalls.
Organisers have prepared prizes to win in a lucky programme draw including an activity day at Calvert Trust Exmoor.
The event runs from 10am until 4.30pm.
