Wind energy is destructive
With reference to your front page article "Turbines Downgraded to Make Money" (January 3). Is anyone surprised by this latest skulduggery? We get the "cowboy element" in all walks of life – certainly it could be argued that the energy companies have more than their fair share. After all, the whole ethos of renewable green energy is built on a scam which is unravelling almost daily.
Dr Phil Bratby is a highly thought of physicist and energy consultant. I have heard him make his case impressively at many planning inquiries. He is an expert in his field, with the rare ability to make highly complex matters understandable to those of us with non technical minds. I suspect no one (with the exception of the Green Party) would accept Marlies Koutstaal's explanation on this issue, rather than Dr Bratby's.
How many more years are we to go on discussing the shocking environmental cost of renewable energy? Why is the public not aware of the carnage that is being inflicted on birds and bats? The wind industry and those who support this ideology have gone to great trouble to cover up and deny this is happening.
I would advise anyone interested in birds to read The "Wind Farms Versus Wildlife" (The Spectator, January 5) by Clive Hambler who is a lecturer in biological and human sciences at Oxford University. His speciality is species extinction. Around the world we are losing 40 species a day. Yet we are being indoctrinated by the wind energy companies and politicians to adopt technologies that are hastening that process. The most destructive of these is wind power.

Every year in Spain alone between six and 18 million birds and bats are killed by wind turbines. In the Atlantic, sea birds such as the manx shearwater are threatened by the offshore turbines factories. The slaughter is endless.
Those who support wind turbines must stop the scam of calling themselves environmentalists or green. They are, in fact, the destroyers of the environment. They are wiping out wildlife; landscapes, seascapes and people's lives. I for one, will never forgive them.
