Woman flown to hospital by air ambulance after crash on A386 in Little Torrington

A WOMAN was flown to hospital by air ambulance after her car rolled into a field this afternoon.

The 54-year-old driver was taken to North Devon District Hospital after the collision which happened on the A386 near Little Torrington.

She was found conscious and breathing inside her Mitsubishi Colt car just before 1pm.

Fire engines from Torrington and Bideford attended the collision to release the driver who suffered from minor injuries.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We asked Highways to grit the road because of the cold weather.

"The woman was breathalysed, there was no alcohol reading."

The car will remain in the field until the owner is able to recover it.
