Two fire crews from the town were called to Trimstone Lane in West Down at around 12.45pm. Upon arrival, they found one man trapped inside his vehicle which was approximately 3ft deep in floodwater.

    “Copied from a different story;

    A spokesman for Devon County Council said: "Motorists are being advised not to drive through floodwater or fords with heightened flows.

    "Driving at night in these conditions can be especially hazardous as some storm damage or floods are not readily visible.

    Yet we still have STUPID people out on the roads!!”

    “How stupid do these people get??
    They drive into 2 ft or 3 ft of water and then wonder why they need to be rescued.
    Totally irresponsible, they should be made to pay the costs of their rescue. 4 different fire crews were needed, what a waste of resources.
    Whilst I appreciate that's why we have a fire AND rescue service, but really these fire fighters could have been taken away from a REAL emergency.
    Name & shame the culprits!!!”
