Work on allotments starts soon
WORK will begin on creating a new allotment site in Woolacombe this weekend.
The Woolacombe Allotment and Garden Association has been given an area of National Trust land in Gora Lane, South Street, to use for allotments.
There will be an opening event this Sunday starting with a blessing of the field at 1.30pm by the Rev Giles King-Smith.
Members of the South Molton Vintage Rally Club will then provide tractors for the land to be ploughed.
There are plans for 30 plots, 20 of which will each be the full size of 30ft by 90ft. The remaining 10 will be half this size.
The allotment association, which has been supported by Mortehoe Parish Council and the National Trust, now has 30 members.
A range of refreshments will be available at the opening event and everyone is welcome to attend.
