Workmen go underground to cut delays at Combe Martin
Manholes will be used to access sewers instead of digging up the road in a North Devon village to minimise level of the disruption caused by renovation works.
A £180,000 project to refurbish 450 metres of sewer at Combe Martin is due to start early next year.

It follows wide consultation in the area over potential disruption to businesses and residents.
The scheme, led by South West Water, is part of a five-year £42 million investment in the sewer network across the region to renovate those identified as being at risk of collapse and to alleviate potential flooding problems.

Five weeks of work will begin on Monday, January 14, including ten nights of work on King Street and High Street.
Project manager Steve Cross said: "This is a real investment in Combe Martin's future.
"Without this necessary work the sewer network will continue to deteriorate," he said.
"That can lead to collapses – which cause pollution, flooding and odour.
"We will be working hard to minimise disruption to the public and businesses as far as possible while completing these essential improvements. This includes working at night on King Street and High Street and using manholes to access the sewers instead of digging up the road to keep noise to a minimum."
