A CAMPAIGNING mum has sent out a reminder to young people urging them to attend a free screening event for undiagnosed heart conditions.

Brenda Luckett from Hartland lost her son, Martyn, at the age of 19 in 2005 after suffering from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) caused by an undiagnosed heart condition.

Since then Brenda and the family have been fundraising and raised £18,000 to allow more people to be tested.

She said: "My other two children have now been tested. It's a simple test which can pick up all sorts of things."

The cardiac screening will be held at the Parkhouse Centre in Bude on January 30 and 31 and is available for young people aged between 14 and 35. The usual £35 fee will be covered by donations made in memory of Martyn.
