Two arrested after ‘nasty’ assault at Torrington pub
TWO men were arrested following an assault at a pub in Torrington yesterday evening.
Three police cars and a riot van rushed to the Newmarket Inn on South Street last night where officers arrested the men, aged 45 and 40, on suspicion of assault.

Police press officer Bill Pascoe said the victim, aged 32, had been followed outside the pub after an altercation inside.
As he got into his car it's alleged a pint glass was thrown and he was then punched after getting out of the vehicle.

It's then alleged he was punched and kicked repeatedly, leaving him with serious injuries including lacerations to the head, tendon damage in his left arm and a jaw injury.
Inspector Tom Cunningham, Devon and Cornwall Police’s Force Incident Manager for the night, said the victim was taken to hospital after the “quite nasty” assault.
