North Devon runners in action at the Warsaw Marathon

TEN athletes from North Devon made the trip to Poland at the weekend to take part in the Warsaw Marathon.

Mandy Sanders was the quickest of Torrington AAC's seven participants, finishing in 3-49-56, while Mike Mears of Bideford AAC dipped under the three-hour barrier in 2-57-09.

Blues duo Martin Colwill and Steve Heard competed at the New Forest Marathon in Hampshire. Heard finished 18th among 500 runners in a personal best time of 3-05, while Colwill suffered from stomach cramps and returned in 3-34.

North Devon Road Runner John Shapland kept up his fine form in the Somerset series, taking fourth overall and first Vet50 at the Mells Trail race.

● The second meeting of the Gliddon and Squire North Devon Cross Country League takes place at West Buckland School on Sunday from 10am.
