Westpoint Arena, Exeter

AN exhilarating fusion of fire, air, earth and water all happening before your very eyes… yes folks, Holiday on Ice is heading back to Devon!

The latest tour of the record breaking international ice show which annually packs Exeter's Westpoint Arena returns to the venue from Tuesday, February 16 to Thursday, February 21, titled Spirit.

And this year, there's a big south west connection — Holiday On Ice principal pair's skater Julia Bailey returns to the region for the first time in many years to appear in Spirit.

She was born in Somerset and started skating at the age of four. As a youngster she studied a variety of dance genres including ballet, jazz and modern, which helped her ice skating skills flourish. And she's looking forward to returning to the south west to perform. "I am really glad to be back as I've not been in the UK for four years," she said.

"What I like about working on Holiday On Ice is there is always something new, from travelling to different cities to filling in for someone who is hurt or injured. It's never the same job two days in a row and it's never mundane."

In Spirit she gets to dance and perform jaw-dropping lifts with her skating and romantic Hungarian partner Tamas Sari. "It does make things more complicated being together as a couple and working together," said Julia, who now lives in Alberta, Canada.

"It can be intense but you do get used to the situation. You can't really go home and talk about work as you spend every day and evening together."
