No building work on Buccaneer site
AN ENDURING symbol of the economic downturn has been Westward Ho!'s Buccaneer site.
Laying directly behind the village green in the centre of the holiday destination is a building site.

Wellpict European Ltd and Westward Living were due to start work last summer turning the site into 13 flats, two shops, and two restaurants.
As part of the planning permission the developers were also due to include a new toilet block, visitor centre and a contribution to local schools.
But Wellpict European went into administration, halting work.
In October Kathy Murdoch, director of Westward Living Ltd said it was inappropriate to comment until the matter was resolved.
She said once this had happened the toilet block would be completed "as a matter of priority".
However, three months later the toilet block is still not complete and the site is still derelict.
Mrs Murdoch was unable to comment at this time.
