Two-car crash closes Exeter to Barnstaple railway line
Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue service were called out at around 3pm this afternoon following reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A377, with one vehicle close to the railway track at King's Nympton, Umberleigh.
Two fire appliances, one from Chulmleigh and one from South Molton attended. One vehicle was found on a steep embankment close to the railway track with one person trapped and the other vehicle was on the highway. The Exeter to Barnstaple "Tarka Line" was closed for safety.

Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to free a casualty who was then transported to hospital by air ambulance. Three further casualties were treated by ambulance crews.
Crews made both vehicles safe. Train passengers experienced delays of up to an hour during the afternoon because of the incident.
