Nine cars involved in Bideford collision

Two people suffered neck injuries in an accident on the new Bideford Bridge involving nine vehicles this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the A39 at 1.25pm following reports of a collision.

Although nine cars were involved in the incident, all of the occupants were free and clear of the vehicles when they arrived. 

Ambulance crews treated two casualties with suspected neck injuries while firefighters made the vehicles safe and helped police clear the carriageway.

Traffic was reported to be very heavy in the area whilst a contraflow was put into place and remains slow into the afternoon.
