Olympic Torch Relay photo competition - Terms and Conditions


  1. This promotion is open to any person in the United Kingdom, who is aged 16 or over. This promotion is not open to employees of the Promoter or employees of companies in the Daily Mail Group or their families, agents, agencies or anyone else professionally connected with this promotion. You may enter as many photographs as you like.

  2. Please read the competition terms and conditions carefully. If you enter the competition, you indicate that you accept these competition terms and conditions, our Privacy Policy, our House Rules and Terms of Use (together the “Terms and Conditions”) and that you agree to abide by them. If you do not agree to the Terms and Conditions, please refrain from entering the competition.

  3. The promotion will start on 19th May 2012 at 0.01 and end on 27th May at 23.59. The Promoter may in its absolute discretion, close the promotion early.

  4. The prize is one Veho Kuzo 002HD Camcorder and Charger Kit.

  5. The prize is offered to any person who enters the photo competition through the following means:
    a. By uploading a photo onto our Facebook wall; or
    b. by tweeting us the photo with the hashtag #localtorchrelay; or
    c. by uploading a photo on Instagram, mentioning @northcliffedgtl with the hashtag #localtorchrelay; or
    d. by uploading a pin to Pinterest and tagging us in the pin; or
    e. by emailing us at competiton@northcliffedigital.co.uk with the photo.

  6. All entries submitted must include the name of the town where the photo was taken or your entry will not be entered into the competition.

  7. By submitting a photo to our competition, you are expressing that you have taken this image and own copyright to the image. You also consent to us including this image in a photo gallery on our site.

  8. A longlist will be chosen by the Promoter. The longlist will be available on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest from 28th May, for users to vote. You will be able to vote on your favourite photo up until 23.59 on 31st May. You can vote by liking / sharing on Facebook, retweeting on Twitter, liking on Instagram, or repining on Pinterest.

  9. The owners of the 5 photos with the most votes will be contacted by the Promoter to ask for their contact details – name, email and contact phone number. These details will only be used to contact the competition winner. They will not be passed onto any third party, nor shared with any other company within the Promoter’s group of companies.

  10. A winner will be chosen by a representative of the Promoter from the 5 photos with the most votes on 31st May.

  11. The winner will be contacted on 31st May by phone. The winner will need to respond within 24 hours in order to claim their prize. If the winner has not responded within the allocated time, the prize may be offered to another entrant within the top 5.

  12. Once the winner has claimed the prize, the winner will be announced on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, as well as the website.

  13. The Promoter’s decision on all matters is final and we will not enter into correspondence or discussion with entrants.

  14. No cash alternatives or substitutions are available and prizes are not transferable or refundable .

  15. If any circumstances out of the Promoter’s control mean that the prize advertised is not available, the Promoter will provide a prize of equivalent value.

  16. The Promoter reserves the right to amend, alter or terminate this promotion at any time due to circumstances beyond its control.

  17. The Promoter’s privacy policy applies to personal data processed in connection with this promotion.

This is North Devon Facebook Promotion


  1. This promotion is open to any Facebook fan of This is North Devon in the United Kingdom, who is aged 18 or over and who became a fan of the official This is North Devon Facebook page after 27th March 2012 and before 17th April 2012. This promotion is not open to employees of the promoter, employees of companies in the Daily Mail Group or their families, agents, agencies or anyone else professionally connected with this promotion. Entries are limited to one per person.

  2. The prize is offered to fans of the official Facebook page of This is North Devon found at: facebook.com/thisisnorthdevon. The prize is a three course meal for 2 people at 11 The Quay, Ilfracombe, up to the value of £150. Any additional costs incurred over this amount will need to be paid by the winner of the prize. The winner must book the meal by 1st June 2012 otherwise the right to claim the prize will be lost. The winner will be responsible for all costs of travel to and from the restaurant.

  3. To enter the promotion, you will need to become a fan of the official Facebook page This is North Devon after 27th March 2012 at 0.00 and before 17th April 2012 at 23.59. You will then need to enter your name, email address and town into the contact form on the Facebook competition tab. By agreeing to the Terms and Conditions of this promotion, you also agree to This is North Devon contacting you via email if you are the winner of the prize. If you tick the box to say that you are happy to be added to the mailing list for This is North Devon, you will only be added to our mailing list for special offers and regular news updates.

  4. The promotion will start on 27th March 2012 at 0.00 and end on 17th April 2012 at 23:59. The Promoter may in its absolute discretion, close the promotion early.

  5. The winner will be picked at random from the list of This is North Devon Facebook fans, gathered between 27th March and 17th April, under supervision from an independent party. The winner will be notified by the email address submitted to the Facebook form for the promotion by 19th April 2012. The winner will need to respond to this email and provide the address for the voucher to be sent. Failure to do this within 3 days of the email being sent may mean the prize is offered to another entrant. In this instance, This is North Devon reserves the right to choose another winner from the Facebook fans gathered within the same period, as per the original terms and conditions of entry.
