THIS North Devon Journal picture shows the new British Prime Minister enjoying a sunny day in North Devon before he was the leader of the Conservative Party.

David Cameron, who was then the Tory head of policy co-ordination, went to the Exmoor Foxhounds horse show at Blackmoor Gate in Autumn 2004 with prospective parliamentary candidate Orlando Fraser.

At the time Mr Fraser said: "David's visit offered a perfect chance for me to put North Devon's input into the next Conservative General Election manifesto.

"I put reduction of council tax, affordable housing for young people, more police on the beat, a strong line on Europe, stopping mass wind farms, and fighting any hunting ban at the top of our list."

In recent months the Journal has photographed and interviewed other politicians who have since taken key positions in Government, including the top Lib Dems Nick Clegg, Chris Huhne and Vince Cable.
