Firework displays will light up the skies of North Devon this weekend as bonfire night celebrations get underway.

There are a number of organised bonfires and firework displays taking place across the region from Friday to Monday.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2:

Head down to Ilfracombe Rugby Club on Friday night to enjoy a bonfire and pyrotechnics show.

The family-friendly event kicks-off at 6.30pm.

Miles Higginson, chairman of Ilfracombe Rugby Club, said: “We always host our fireworks on a Friday night so people can make a proper evening of it. After enjoying the bonfire, fireworks, barbecue and kids’ entertainment, we have a disco in the clubhouse so everyone can make full use of the bar and have a great Friday night out.”

Hot food and hot drinks are available throughout the night, and the well-stocked bar will be open until late with a disco running in the clubhouse.

Entry: £3 (adult), £2 (child), £10 (family).

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3:

Torrington:

The Torrington Cavaliers host their annual fireworks event on Saturday evening.

The Cavaliers’ bonfire and fireworks show is at Torrington Rugby Club from 7pm.

Entry: £3 (adult), £2 (child), £8 (family). Refreshments are available and the clubhouse is open to all. Parking is available on the nearby industrial estate.

Milky Way Adventure Park, Clovelly:

A bonfire, fireworks, music, entertainment and refreshments are all part of the fun at an event at the Milky Way Adventure Park on Saturday.

Organised by Woolsery Young Farmers’ Club and Clovelly RNLI Lifeboat, the fun starts from 6.30pm.

Woolsery School will also be running a Guy Fawkes competition at the event. Entry: £3.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4:

Barnstaple Rugby Club:

Barnstaple Round Table annual fireworks display is always about raising money for local good causes.

Money raised from last year’s display has helped many causes notably, 4-year-old George Palmer who suffers from cerebral palsy.

This year’s event takes place on Sunday at Barnstaple Rugby Club. Gates open at 6pm and the display starts at 7pm. Discounted tickets are available online from www.barnstapleroundtable.co.uk.

Entry charges at the gate: £15 (family), £5 (adult), £4 (child). Online charges: £10 (family), £4 (adult), £3 (child).

West Anstey:

A bonfire will be blazing at Partridge Arms Farm on Sunday courtesy of Anstey Young Farmers.

There will also be a barbecue and bar at the event, which starts from 6.30pm.

Entry: £3.50 (adult) and free to children under 6yrs.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5:

BIG Sheep, Bideford:

Enjoy the heat from a big bonfire and fantastic firework display at the BIG Sheep on Monday.

The evening kicks off at 6.30pm with the fireworks lighting the skies at 8pm.

The BIG Sheep will be serving fresh to order burgers, chips and hot dogs as well as the family favourites such as toffee apples, popcorn and candy floss.

Woolacombe:

A spaceship theme will add to the fun of a bonfire and fireworks evening at Woolacombe Meadow on Monday evening.

The event, which pays homage to Neil Armstrong, starts with a torch-lit procession led by Humdrumconumdrum from the Red Barn at 6pm. The procession will lead towards Woolacombe Meadow where the lighting of the bonfire (spaceship) will take place.

There will be two bars, a barbecue, curry, cakes, teas, coffee and music from the fabulous folk band the Roving Crows who will bring a Celtic vibe with fiery fiddle playing, trumpet, guitar, drums, bass and vocals.

Entry: £10 (family ticket), £4 (adult), £3 (child). Tickets are available from Shirleys Newsagent in Woolacombe or the Woolacombe and Mortehoe Playgroup. Details: nicky@goto11.co.uk.

North Molton:

An evening of bonfire night celebrations will take place in North Molton on Monday. Head down to the Methodist Field for a bonfire, firework display and barbecue. Hotdogs, burgers and tuck will be available.

Entry from 6.30pm: £1.50 (adults). Pre-school children go free.

Hartland:

There will be a fireworks display at West Country Inn on Monday evening. Entry to the event is free. From 6.30pm.
