For animal attractions get along to Holsworthy show today where you can enjoy show jumping, sheepdog trials, duck demonstrations, a family dog show. The entertainment takes place at the Killatree Cross showground with the dog show beginning at 1pm in the Cornish Mutual Entertainment Ring.

Horse-shoeing will be taking place around the showground with morning and afternoon demonstrations, and there will also be sheep shearing demonstrations, woodturning and thatching, and milking demonstrations in the cattle area.

Show secretary, Alison Wilson, said: "We will also have the Devon Beekeepers in the food marquee with candle rolling and have-a-go activities."

The Children's Centre team will be at the show providing a calm zone for families, a changing area, and a dedicated area for mums to breastfeed. A free shuttle bus will run between Holsworthy library and the showground from 9am to the close of the show.

The gates open at 9am and tickets are £8 for adults, £3 for children or £20 for a family ticket of two adults and two children.

If you are looking for somewhere for kids to burn off energy on those wet weather days The Play Hut in Ilfracombe has announced new prices from today. Entry to the indoor kid's soft play centre at The Courtyard in Bath Place is £2 per child (0-10 years) while children who visit the nearby Tunnels Beaches can visit the Play Hut for £1 (play is restricted to one hour during busy periods).

Those of you who like a little haute cuisine might be keen to pick up a few bargains in the French Market which visits Ilfracombe seafront from 9am to 4.30pm.

Strictly Salsa Devon with Let's Dance Jive are holding a dance-a-thon on the square outside Barnstaple Library today from 10am to 4pm. Anyone can join in the fun and passers by are welcome to join in and have a dance. The sponsored event is in aid of the Helping Charity, which provides for children in Gambia.
