Bite back at the credit crunch with our Xmas Xchange
Thursday, November 13, 2008, 08:32
Our Xmas Xchange will allow readers to give away unwanted items that might make perfect Christmas gifts for somebody else. It's the ideal way to make sure that those dolls that are no longer played with or bicycles that are never ridden can go to a good home.
And the service is not just for children's gifts.
Perhaps you were given a bottle of scent that you have never opened — and know you never will.
Or perhaps there's a silk tie hanging in the wardrobe that simply doesn't suit your style.
Xmas Xchange will operate through the Journal's website www.thisisnorthdevon.co.uk
To offer an item for the Xmas Xchange or to see what other people are offering simply follow the link from our website homepage.
Journal editor Richard Best, who was to be interviewed about the Xmas Xchange on BBC Radio Devon this morning said: "We thought Christmas was an ideal time to try this. People might want to simply give things away, or ask for a swap in return — we'll just be happy if it proves useful for the community here in North Devon.
"If it is successful we will look at continuing the service in the New Year and extending its scope. Most of us have stuff lying around the house that we no longer need, but don't know what to do with it. Things are often too good to throw away, but if we knew they were going to a good home we'd probably be glad of the space."
