Magical meeting with Harry Potter author J K Rowling

Thursday, November 13, 2008, 07:00

HARRY Potter fan Dulcie Horn had a magical experience when she bumped into the fictional boy wizard's creator.

The Hatherleigh teenager made a pilgrimage to the Edinburgh cafe where author JK Rowling famously wrote her best-selling books.

And by an amazing coincidence the author happened to pop in.

Shebbear College student Dulcie, 15, said: "I was staying with a friend of my mum's in Edinburgh, as we used to live there.

"I was hoping to visit the cafe where JK Rowling wrote Harry Potter and we decided to stop for lunch on the way.

"We moved to sit on the sofas when they became free and JK Rowling came in and sat down where I had just been sitting.

"My godmother realised who she was — so when we finished, we asked if I could have my picture taken with her and she agreed. She was lovely.

"She was eating carrot cake and said I had a lovely name.

"I am gutted that I didn't get her autograph but I was really star-struck — ridiculously so — I couldn't speak.

"It was a complete coincidence that I bumped into her and it was an amazing experience.

"I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. JK Rowling has a new book out soon — The Tales of Beedle the Bard — and I will be one of the first to buy it."
