Firefighters at the nearby station said they heard a “loud bang” prompting two engines to immediately rush to the scene.
It is understood to be the second crash on the same stretch of road in the last seven days.
Raleigh Road was closed for just over an hour while emergency services dealt with the incident. Police were directing traffic around the scene of the crash and traffic was heavy in the area for some time.
The vehicles were towed away by a recovery truck and the road was clear by 3pm.
