Man, 26, killed after car strikes bridge on A3079 at Halwill Junction near Holsworthy
A 26-year-old man has been killed after his car struck a bridge on the A3079 near Holsworthy.
Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene of the crash, which occurred approximately three miles north of Halwill, at around 3.40pm yesterday.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene after the red VW Golf, which was travelling towards Halwill Junction, collided with a bridge parapet.
Police confirmed he is local to the Halwill area and his immediate next of kin have been informed. Formal identification is expected to take place tomorrow afternoon.

The road was closed between Halwill Junction and the Station Road junction for several hours while police investigations were carried out.
No other vehicles were involved.
Anyone who witnessed the crash who has not yet contacted police is asked to call 101 and quote crime reference number 0618/22/12.
