WHILE Braunton Productions is seeking its Dorothy (see page two), the Plough Arts Centre in Torrington is also on the look out for young people with an interest in stage craft.

If you are aged between 13 and 18 years and enjoy singing, dancing and acting then you might like to take part in the Senior Youth Theatre's next production.

Following hot on the heels of their sell out performances of Oh What a Lovely War, workshop style auditions for Oklahoma! start at the Plough Arts Centre on Saturday January 10, from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

Packed with well known musical numbers, a cast of colourful characters and some large scale ensemble choreography, the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical promises to be something for the whole company to get their teeth into.

The story centres on a cowboy called Curly and his romance with farm girl Laurey. More romance blossoms with flirtatious Ado Annie and her long-suffering fiancé Will Parker, but nothing is ever straight forward.

The production runs from Wednesday July 15 to Saturday July 18. New members are always very welcome with two terms commitment for the rehearsal period required.

Youth Theatre director, Rob Pudner, said: "You can expect to work hard, make new friends and have lots of fun while working towards a production that you, your family and community as a whole can be very proud of."

The Junior members of the Youth Theatre are about to embark on the final weeks of rehearsals for a new musical adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's novel The Wind in the Willows. The premier performances by the cast of 55 children aged between eight and 12 takes place between Tuesday February 10 and Thursday February 12 at 7pm.

Box office: 01805 624624.

For more information on the Oklahoma auditions contact the Plough Youth Theatre director on 07751 886923 or turn up on Saturday January 10 at 1.30pm.
