Classical duo a success

VIOLINIST Lizzie Ball and the well known cellist Bernard Gregor-Smith gave a wonderful string duo concert in South Molton Church in aid of local charity Young Musicians' Support.
The audience was rewarded for venturing out on a wet and windy night with virtuoso performances of Mozart's Duo for Violin and Cello in G Major; a violin solo from Lizzie of the J S Bach Partita in D Minor and Duo for Violin and Cello by Rheinhold Gliere.
After the interval Bernard gave a magnificent performance from Bach's C Major Suite for Cello and then both performed Kodaly's Duo for Violin and Cello opus 7.
Both Lizzie and Bernard were delighted to see young children in the audience and they took time to explain something of the history of the composers and the pieces they played.
They also commented on the splendid acoustics in the church and the beauty of the surroundings.
YMS encourage children to attend their performance by offering free places at a concert for the under 16s. YMS exists to raise funds to help the children of North Devon pay for music lessons.
