Contrasting styles at the Comedy Club

Thursday, February 04, 2010, 07:00

Ilfracombe Comedy Club Landmark Pavilion, Ilfracombe Friday, February 12

DESCRIBED as a purveyor of 'brutally cool' humour, Matt Welcome's sets are fast paced and packed with fantastic comedy observations and sarcastic ramblings. After years on the circuit, he took a couple of years off and is now back with a vengeance and is said to be sharper and fresher than ever.

In contrasting style his support on the night will be laid back Chris Stokes, who, despite his relaxed demeanour, has been making quite a name for himself as one of the best new acts in the country with his intelligent comedy.

Since competing in the Chortle Student Comedian of the Year in 2007, Stokes has racked up a number of podium appearances at various competitions and won first place in the 2008 First Laugh Comedian of the Year.

Comedy Club promoter and DJ, Wendy May will be rounding the evening's entertainment off with a set of tunes destined to get you dancing until midnight.

Tickets: £7. Box office: 01271 324242 or visit the website at www.northdevontheatres.org.
