Two men killed in South Molton horror crash named locally
Two men who were killed when their car careered off the road and plummeted 15ft into a swollen river near South Molton have been named locally.
Passenger Paul Bovey, 24 and from South Molton, and driver Martyn Windsor, 25 and from Brixham, died after the blue Peugeot 306 convertible plunged into the swollen fast-flowing River Mole at some point during Thursday night.
Although police said formal identification had not taken place the men have been named locally and tribute pages have been created on Facebook for friends to leave comments and photographs.
The two men were found in the crashed car shortly after 8am on Friday when a member of the public alerted the emergency services.

Mr Windsor sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to North Devon District Hospital, where he died a short time later.
Mr Bovey was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Both of the men’s next of kin have been informed.
The two men worked at the Tarr Farm Inn, near Tarr Steps on Exmoor.
A colleague at the Inn, who did not want to be named, described them as hard-working young men.
She said: “Paul and Martyn were well liked. Everyone got on with them. It’s all very raw and we are coming to terms with what has happened. Everyone is devastated. They will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to their families.”
The rural unclassified road from South Molton to North Molton was closed until 5pm on Friday while specialist police accident investigators tried to establish how the crash happened.
Police continue to appeal for information from anyone who saw the car being driven from the Exmoor direction towards North Molton or South Molton sometime during Thursday evening or the early hours of Friday morning.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 148 of 12/10/2012.
