Thunderbridge Bluegrass Boys
BRILLIANT bluegrass will be the buoyant entertainment at St Bartholemew's Church when the Thunderbridge Bluegrass Boys play there tomorrow. The popular acoustic roots quartet features North Devon-born Nick Girone-Maddocks on mandolin and vocals.
He said: "The church gigs are always great — the sound in these places is always phenomenal, and the whole feel of the gig is so cool."
The band play in the traditional way, all around one radio-style microphone, with close four part harmonies and all-acoustic instruments. They perform traditional and original bluegrass music as well as some more obscure covers by artists such as Steve Earle and Townes Van Zandt.
"There's no gimmicks and not many wires — what you see is really what you get," added Nick.
Since their formation four years ago, their stunning stage act has gained good momentum across the country and beyond.
The Stoke Rivers concert is in aid of the church, with the proceeds going towards essential maintenance.
