Juniors take their chance

YOUNG players have continued to flourish in the Academy of Beach Sports' South West League team.

Despite inconsistent form that has seen them beat second-placed Wessex in straight sets and lose to sixth-placed Torexe Aces, Academy are holding on to third place.

Juniors Charlotte Ross and Michelle Townson have grown in confidence and demonstrated powerful serves in a 3-2 win over Bristol last time out.

Academy hope to have Karen Weatherly back from injury for matches against Cardiff and Plymouth on Sunday week.

● Russell Young, who hopes to win a place in the Great Britain sitting volleyball squad for the 2012 Paralympics, has been training with the Petroc Volleyball Academy.
