With two nominations in the 2009 Exposure Music Awards under his belt Mark has also self-released two albums, Dangerous Times and Love Like Suicide. His third solo album, Growing Old Disgracefully was released in May, the debut single from which, also of the same name, was met with interest from the unsigned and underground music industry.
With a music history stretching back years, self-managed Mark has been a musician since the 1970s and was the lead singer of band Blackreign during the early nineties. After his time with the band, Mark had a 16-year-long break from performing, opting to work on the more technical side of music and eventually settling down in Holsworthy. Yet it would seem that the quiet country life made Mark realise what he was missing, as soon he was back in the studio.
"A few years ago I asked myself, am I doing the right thing? But once I got my songs out and started getting feedback from places like Facebook and Myspace, I started to believe in myself," he said.
"The easiest way to describe what I do is progressive pop. I like to give it an edge and keep it commercial. I try not to put myself in a category."
Music is not the only part of the media that Mark is involved in, having recently gained a part in a film, Thugs, Mugs and Violence.
Mark has been busy quietly recording in his studio but will be playing locally at St Peter's Fair, Holsworthy.
"St Peter's Fair will be what I call launching my career locally. No one has really heard this stuff, except for my neighbours who hear me rehearsing in my front room."
Mark hopes his music makes an impact, whether it be by the people of Holsworthy, followers and fans nationwide or someone who just happened to catch his song on iTunes.
"If someone can remember me for one song, then that's great. If they can remember me for a whole string of songs, then that's even more fantastic."
