WILDWOOD Flower Mountain Music Club holds its final concert of the year in December and it promises to be a Christmas Cracker of a night. One of the UK's most popular bluegrass bands, The Thunderbridge Bluegrass Boys will be visiting the club.

Those of you who have seen them before know this will a great evening of bluegrass music, four-piece harmonies and entertainment. The boys have been cooking up a storm over the last year and have played at many prestigious events, including the Cornish Bluegrass Festival last September where they once again wowed the audiences with their performance.

They like to keep the music "real, fresh, and most of all, accessible for all those who care to listen" and they're said to be a great bunch of guys too.

After six years of providing bluegrass music to the people of North Devon, Martin and Marianne Lucas hold the final monthly club night for the Wildwood Flower Mountain Music on Wednesday, December 9, 8.30pm at The George Hotel, South Molton.

"We would like to thank everyone, too many to mention, who has supported us in any way over the last six years," said the couple.

"Particular thanks to our very loyal club members and special thanks to Cathy and Rob Doel at The George Hotel who have always supported live music in the area, with not just national and international stars, but very much local artists as well."

The couple were challenged to start the club six years ago by a friend in Cornwall after moaning to him that there was nothing like the Cornwall Bluegrass and Old Time scene in North Devon.

"We had not done anything like this before and it was a bit scary. However, it was the best thing we've ever done. We so enjoyed it, and it's been extremely well supported. The concerts, in particular, have been a great success.

"We are happy to have been active in promoting this kind of music in North Devon. The fact that our concerts have sold out virtually every time proves that this music is becoming more and more popular, and we hope, after a break, to promote further concerts."

● Tickets for the Thunderbridge Bluegrass Boys are £10 (in advance advisable) from Martin and Marianne Lucas 01237 472083.
