Monday, September 08, 2008, 09:00

FOUR people were arrested by police in Barnstaple earlier today following drug raids by neighbourhood beat officers.

The police, with support from the Tactical Aid Group and Targeted Policing Team, raided two addresses in Barnstaple.

Three people, a 41-year-old woman and two men aged 40 and 32, were arrested for possessing class A drugs with intent to supply at an address on

Poltimore Lawn.

A 39-year-old man was also arrested at an address in East Park Road in relation to money laundering.

All were released on police bail — the woman and the men aged 40 and 32 until October 28 and the 39-year-old until October 31.

PC Anna Fielding, a neighbourhood beat officer involved with the operation, said: "Officers working in this area will often utilise specialist departments to assist us in carrying out this kind of warrant and drug dealers are in our sights."

"The communities we all live and work in do not have to put up with these people living amongst us.

"All it takes is for information to be passed to us using Crimestoppers."

Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.
