“ Went to The Thatched Inn Abbotsham with friends last Friday eve, all 6 of us enjoyed the evening, not just because of the sparkling company, but because the food and service was as good as ever. A mixture of dishes were ordered including vegetarian, examples were starters: brie and cranberry, pate; main course: veggie Wellington, hunters chicken... all cooked to order and plentiful... as good Devon food should be! Always a pleasure to go The Thatched, just a shame the weather this summer didn't allow folks better use of the excellent beer garden. ”

The Thatched Inn is a traditional historic pub situated just outside of Bideford in the small village of Abbotsham, Nr Bideford, North Devon.
The Thatched Inn has a well deserved reputation for excellent home cooked food at reasonable prices and we never say no to particular food request. We have a separate restaurant, private marque perfect for a Devon Wedding, Parties or Function.
Our menu is changed seasonally, so as to make the most use of local produce, and although classic in design is supported by a wide range of homemade dishes, together with an ever changing specials board, enabling us to offer anything from a light snack to a traditional 3 course meal, with prices to suit all budgets.
The Sunday Roasts are delicious, so call in or book and give Mum a rest!
Formerly a local farmer, Leslie Heard brought The Thatched Inn near Bideford, North Devon in 1993.
Since then he has worked to build a reputation locally for having a fine selection of real ales, and a varied menu with guaranteed large portions, complimented by a range of wines to suit all tastes.
As its name suggest the 15th century stone building has a thatched roof and was originally 3 stone cottages before being converted into a public house. The interior of this ancient inn is equally charming and full of character as many of the buildings original features remain. In the recently refurbished Bar and Restaurants gleaming brassware hangs from the walls and exposed beams to further compliment the atmosphere.

“I'd heard good things about The Thatched Inn in Abbotsham. A group of us went along and when we arrived we all thought that it was a great looking place, with its thatched roof, and even the smoking shelter was thatched. Inside was lovely, lots of little eating areas. The menu was typical pub grub, but they did have a specials board. The service was good, friendly staff, willing to help you. The portions were enormous and at that point I felt that it was good value for money, as the meals were on the pricey side. However, my ham ,egg and chips was not very tasty. The crinkle chips were ok - there were plenty of them, but the ham, whilst thickly sliced, was tasteless. Perhaps it was just a bad night - I think I'd give them a second chance because the pub itself was lovely.”
