I hope councillors Greenslade and Parsons do not think they are writing on my behalf in their letter regarding councillors' e-mails. They do not.
As members of staff at North Devon Council have said to me, "We are subject to mystery shoppers", then why not councillors? I have spoken to the customer services manager at the council and she confirms that all departments are subject to this check on performance, including her own.
I agree with your correspondent Stan Dibble of Braunton: to compare the actions of the Journal with that of the radio station in Australia belittles the seriousness of that event.
I would have thought that both councillors have more important matters to occupy their minds and time.
